Yvonne Walmalwa Dies in Nanyuki

Yvonne Wamalwa, the widow of Kenya’s 8thvice president Michael Wamalwa passed on in Nanyuki on Thursday.

Her brother in law, CS Eugene Wamalwa said the family is currently making arrangements to airlift her body to Lee Funeral Home.

Yvonne married Mr Wamalwa in 2003, six months before the former vice president died, aged 58, at London’s Royal Free Hospital.

Until her death, Mrs Wamalwa was the Deputy Director of the Asia and Australasia Directorate in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

She has also served as a one-time Deputy Permanent Representative of Kenya to the United Nations Habitat in Nairobi, an appointment which was done by former President Mwai Kibaki after the death of her husband.

Three years later, she was appointed the Deputy High Commissioner of Kenya to Australia.

Yvonne has left behind her daughter, Michelle Wamalwa, now 18.

The family is yet to announce the cause of her death.
