Uhuru Raila Gap Close – Latest Opinion Polls

The latest opinion polls from the Radio Africa Group shows that Raila is slowly catching up with Uhuru with 40% of the respondents saying they would vote for Raila Odinga against Uhuru’s 49%. This is a 16% jump for the Nasa Flagbearer while a slight slip up for Uhuru from the previous 51% support in March opinion polls.

The Radio Africa poll was conducted by Computer Aided Telephone Interview (CATI) between May 2 and 14 with 3,430 respondents over 18 years in 28 counties.

Interesting observation from the polls show that Raila and Uhuru are neck to neck with male voters, as both candidates share a 46% support with 7% undecided.

It’s a different case with women as Uhuru enjoys more support with 51% saying they would vote for the incumbent president followed by Raila’s 42% while 7% remain undecided.

The new wave of independent candidates is threatening to disrupt the status quo where parliamentary elections is concerned. 57% of respondents said they would be willing to vote for independent candidates. This is worrying for both leading political parties as it would present a problem in passing legislation in parliament.

In Bomet where Isaac Rutto joined Nasa as the 5th principal, Jubilee still leads by 71% and Nasa 28%.
