Incumbent, president Uhuru Kenyatta still leads in the latest polls by Infotrak, with 36 days to go to the general elections. Kenyatta’s lead of 48% makes it a tight race with Odinga behind with just a difference of 5% having 43%. This means that if elections were held today, we would have a run off. Undecided voters are at 8% proving to be key in helping the leading candidates if they are to win against each other.

Jubilee party is the most popular with 47% and NASA coalition follows by 43%. 5 percent of those polled did not to disclose their affiliation, 3 percent remain undecided while another 3 percent do not identify with any party.

Half of the country feels that Kenya is going in the wrong direction

Half of Kenyans feel that the country is going in the wrong direction, while 45% feel the country is in the right direction. Only 4% of those polled had no comment.

Central Kenya had the highest approval of the country’s direction with 80% feeling Kenya is on the right direction. Interestingly, North Eastern follows at at 79% despite the challenges they have been facing especially in matters insecurity. “The living standards of those people in North Eastern are perhaps much better in spite of insecurity incidents and that explains the disparity,” Infotrack’s Angela Ambitho said.

However majority in Nyanza (67%), Coast (66%), Nairobi (60%), Western (59%), and Eastern (52%) feel the country has lost direction. Rift Valley however has a divided opinion with 49% feeling the country is on the wrong as opposed to 48% who think it’s on the right.
