Uganda Government Outlaws Bobi Wine’s Trademark Red Berret

The government of Uganda has designated the popular red Berret worn by members of the opposition, led by Bobi Wine, as an official military tunic, consequently outlawing civilians from wearing it.

Bobi Wine, a fierce critic of President Museveni, has been donning the red beret, which has now become his trademark headgear and that of his revolutionary resistance movement under the slogan”People’s Power.

The slogan”People’s Power” and the logo is engraved at the front of the beret.

According to a gazette notice, which is apparently the first on military clothing, “the red beret is  part of the uniform of Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF )any member of the public found in possession of the items “is liable on conviction to imprisonment for a term not exceeding five years.”
