Hope Hicks, a former White House Communications Officer, who was recently appointed as “counselor to the president”, tested positive for coronavirus a few hours before
US President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania have both tested positive for Covid-19.
Trump broke the news on his twitter handle today, saying they will begin their quarantine process immediately.
“Tonight, @FLOTUS and I tested positive for COVID-19. We will begin our quarantine and recovery process immediately. We will get through this TOGETHER!” Trump said in the tweet.
Hope Hicks, a former White House Communications Officer, who was recently appointed as “counselor to the president”, tested positive for coronavirus a few hours before the president’s results were out, sparking fears that Trump might have contracted the virus as well.
“Hope Hicks, who has been working so hard without even taking a small break, has just tested positive for COVID 19. Terrible! The First Lady and I are waiting for our test results. In the meantime, we will begin our quarantine process!” Trump had previously tweeted.
Trump had been downplaying the virus that has killed more than 205,000 Americans.
According to the latest stats, there are 34 million COVID-19 infections worldwide, 23 million recoveries, and 1 Million deaths.
The US continues to lead on the global COVID-19 statistics chart as the most affected country (7M) cases followed by India (6M cases) and Brazil (4M cases).
