Former Treasury CS Henry Rotich charged over dams scandal

The Director of Public Prosecution Nordin Haji has ordered for the arrest and prosecution of Treasury CS Henry Rotich and his Principal Secretary Kamau Thugge among other top government officials over the multibillion-shilling Arror and Kimwarer dams scandal.

According to the DPP, a total of 28 people, including Rotich are facing 8 counts of charges each under economic crimes for having flouted procurement procedures, and misled the public about the state of national finances, in order to award the tender to the bankrupt Italian firm CMC Di Ravenna.

Nordin Haji maintained that public abuse is a blatant abuse of power and that “no one no matter how powerful” is above the law.

Henry Rotich surrendered himself at the DCI Headquarters moments after DPP Haji ordered for his arrest over Arror and Kimwarer dams scandal.
