Statehouse has suspended president Uhuru Kenyatta’s Twitter and Facebook page after the accounts were hacked.
According to Statehouse’s chief of staff, Nzioka Waita, the suspension was occasioned by “unauthorized access” to Uhuru’s social media account.
“On account of unauthorized access to the official social media handles of H.E the President of the Republic of Kenya, Uhuru Kenyatta. All official social media handles for the President have been temporarily suspended to allow for the necessary remedial measures to be undertaken,” Waita said in a tweet.
Before the accounts were suspended, a tweet from the president’s Twitter handle had warned that he was not going to spare anyone in the war on graft.
“If you are corrupt we will fight you. you can be my brother, sister or closest political ally, but if you are corrupt we will fight you,” the tweet read in part.
Critics, however, allege state house is out to block the intensifying criticism by the public on Uhuru’s social media accounts.
