2013 presidential aspirant Peter Kenneth has announced plans to vie for governor in Nairobi County in the August general elections on a jubilee party ticket.

“I’m going for it, I want to be the next governor of Nairobi,” Kenneth announced during a service at the Jesus Winner Ministry in Roysambu.

The former Gatanga MP announced his plans to vie for governor in October last year but was torn in between his backyard Murang’a and Nairobi County.

Kenneth now joins a long list of political heavyweights in the jubilee party who will be seeking the nomination certificate to battle it out with ODM’s Evans Kidero, who will be seeking a re-election.

The other Jubilee Party candidates eyeing the Nairobi governor seat are , Senator Mike Sonko, Nominated MP Johnson Sakaja, former Starehe MP Margaret Wanjiru and Dagoretti legislator Dennis Waweru.

Sonko has already lashed out at Peter Kenneth for his bid saying that “foreigners” are not allowed in the Nairobi county gubernatorial race.

Going by the views shared by Kenyans on social media, unlike in 2013, when Peter Kenneth garnered a lot of popularity as his vision for the country and leadership stood out, this time round his bid appears too “political” and tribally influenced that he passes across as just the typical politician next door and some critics have already branded him a “jubilee project”.
