COMMENTS AND REPORTS FROM KENYA FORUM READERS

Arrived at 6.30am… queued for a few minutes… voted in 2 minutes and out!

Hi. Was at polling station at 6.30am and voted at 10.15am… queues long. I voted at St George’s School on Dennis Pritt Road. The queues were shortening but it’s still a 2 hour queue at least.

Things are well over all. People are voting with no complaints. So far peace.

Went in at 6am like a good little soldier and the place was a shambles… Nobody knew where to queue… No IEBC officials there to help…. Left the polling centre and decided will go back around 11ish when they should have, hopefully, gotten their act together!

Am at Klimani Primary School with 3 people ahead of me. It takes less than 10 minutes for one person to vote.

Am voting at Embakasi South in Imara Daima Estate. Been here since 6.30am and I found hundreds of people. We’ve been made to queue according to the first letter of the first name in the ID. I should be here for the next two hours or more. It’s really, really slow but there is order.

Voting at Precious Blood Riruta. Seven streams arranged in alphabetical order e.g. F, G,I, by name with extremely long queues and take 4 to 6 minutes per voter depending on age.

Am voting Karen. Queue over 250 meters long. Very hot. Some people had good sense to bring an umbrella. I didn’t! Will be hours yet.

Voting just of Ngong Road. 800 meter queue! 1,000 people in the queue. Got there at 5am, didn’t vote until 12:00!

MEDIA REPORTS: SOME ELECTIONS FOR COUNTY REPS MAY HAVE TO BE POSTPONED

Some ballot papers for County Assembly reps have been printed with the wrong names and/or photos of the candidates on them. IEBC are saying where this has happened the election for County rep will be postponed until April 10.

Voter ID computers failed to work in Limuru. No power. Relying on ‘problematical’ batteries. Polling staff have switched to manual vote ID recognition from printed lists of electors.
