A source has also revealed to The Kenya Forum that retired President Mwai Kibaki and former Attorney General Charles Njonjo have been admitted to Nairobi Hospital.

According to the source, who at the time had also revealed that the late Bethuel Kiplagat was also in the ICU at the same hospital before he was confirmed dead this morning, Kibaki and Njonjo have been receiving treatment at the hospital.

Kibaki’s Speaks About His Health

In April this year, Kibaki revealed that he had a problem with his throat, which had affected the quality of his voice.

Kibaki, who was speaking during the manifesto launch of his nephew, Nderitu Mureiithi, at Nanyuki Sports Club, said he had nothing to hide from Kenyans concerning his health. Nderitu is vying for governor Laikipia County on a Jubilee ticket.

Kibaki was responding to a public concern on his health following the incoherent speech he made at the burial of former Nyeri governor Nderitu Gachagua on March 6.

The former president’s health has declined considerably since leaving office in 2013. In August 2016, Kibaki fell ill at his residence in Muthaiga and was rushed to Karen Hospital. He was later flown to South Africa where he was admitted at Netcare Sunninghill Hospital and underwent a successful surgery to remove a blood clot in his neck.
