NAIROBI, Kenya, June 6- The government has launched a five-year National Education Sector Strategic Plan (NESSP) aimed at implementing transformative education reforms.
In a statement, Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu emphasized the government’s commitment to prioritizing education programs, which are widely regarded as pivotal for the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation (BETA) initiative.
Notably, the government has allocated a significant portion of the upcoming budget to the education sector.
“This strategic plan envisions ‘An inclusive and equitable quality education, training, and research for prosperity.’ This vision highlights our commitment to providing every citizen, regardless of background, with access to quality education that empowers them and contributes to national prosperity,” Machogu stated.

Additionally, the plan incorporates recommendations from the Presidential Working Party on Education Reforms, presented to President Dr. William Ruto last year. It also provides a clear roadmap for the transition from the 8-4-4 system to the Competency-Based Curriculum.
