Reports are coming in that gunmen have attacked Deputy President William Ruto’s house in Eldoret. The attacks are reported to have started 25 minutes ago when GSU officers were overpowered allowing attackers into the house. Three gunmen are believed to be within the Sugoi home and local police have cordoned off the area. One report says tanks are involved but this cannot be confirmed.

Two gunmen and a police officer are reported to have been killed and it is believed that several workers are trapped in the house.

Witnesses say that the gunmen are of Somali appearance but this too cannot be confirmed.

Deputy President Ruto had apparently left the house for a rally in Kitale shortly before the attack.
