The two were last seen on Saturday night when they were dropped home by a black land cruiser. Mrs. Mwai’s husband is said to be ailing and admitted at a city hospital.
The police is trying to gather information and piece evidence to unravel the murder of a 73-year-old woman (Mrs. Judy Wanjiku Mwai), and her 47-year-old daughter (Catherine Nyaguthi Mwai) whose bodies were found lying in separate bedrooms in Nairobi’s South B estate.
According to police, the two were last seen on Saturday night when they were dropped home by a black land cruiser, based on the information given by the security guards and neighbours.
Mrs. Mwai is a retiree of treasury and her husband is said to be ailing and admitted at a city hospital. She and her daughter reportedly spend the day at the hospital.
Their bodies were discovered by a relative who had gone to visit to check on them after they failed to visit Nyaguthi’s father at the hospital and could not be reached on phone.
Wanjiku had been strangled using a sisal rope while the body of her daughter was found on her bedroom floor with injuries on her neck.
Police confirmed the incident as a murder case, saying the victims had visible signs of strangulation. Nothing was stolen from the house as electronics including the victims’ mobile phones were found on them.
“This seems to be murder but experts are on the ground looking for leads. We are yet to know the motive,” said Nairobi Police boss Philip Ndolo.
