Pastor Ng’ang’a arrested in connection with traffic crime

Apostle James Ng’ang’a spend the night at Gigiri police station yesterday after he was arrested following a road accident in which he’s linked.

The police denied the controversial preacher bail despite his lawyers’ efforts to have him released and was this morning arraigned in a Limuru court for the mentioning of his case.

The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Keriako Tobiko had on Tuesday given the green light for the apostle’s arrest following the recommendations of Inspector General, Joseph Boinnet that Ng’ang’a be charged with causing death through reckless driving.

Ng’ang’a is accused of being behind an accident that left a woman dead and at least two others injured along Nairobi-Nakuru highway on July 26 and was yesterday arrested just hours after he moved to the High Court to block his prosecution.

The woman identified as Mercy Njeri died while undergoing treatment after a Range Rover Sport, said to belong to Ng’ang’a, collided head-on with the vehicle she was travelling in. Her husband Martin Mbugua was left injured and admitted at Tigoni hospital.

The Range Rover was allegedly being driven recklessly on the wrong side of the road, with a chase car behind when it collude with another car. According to eyewitness accounts, Ng’ang’a, jumped out of the vehicle and got into the chase car and sped off. ).

A man, Simon Maina Kuria, who allegedly took the fall for Ng’ang’a and admitted to have been driving the Range Rover is together with two officers accused of attempting to cover-up Ng’ang’a’s role in the accident also facing prosecution.
