Daudi Nzomo, the man from Makueni county, who was caught on camera brutally assaulting his wife has been sentenced to 12 years in prison after he pleaded guilty to the offense.

The Magistrate, James Mwaniki, said hi Nzomo’s criminal record shows a history of violence. He ruled that Nzomo will serve 10 years in prison and the remaining two under probation.

Nzomo was caught in a clip that went viral last week, brutally assaulting his defenseless wife, Winfred Mwende, sparking a public uproar.

The Director Of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Noordin Haji ordered for his arrest and he was charged with causing grievous body harm to his wife.

Nzomo had pleaded with the magistrate to give him a lenient sentence as he is the sole breadwinner for his family.
