NYS Investigations Lead Detective Partner in Ngirita’s Family Business

Jeremiah Gichini Ngirita, brother to Ann Ngirita, who are among the key suspects in the latest NYS scandal, has revealed that a key detective in the investigations that been launched to probe how money was looted in the youth body is actually a partner in one of their companies.

As reported by The Standard Newspaper, Jeremiah Ngirita has sworn an affidavit revealing that Mike Julius King’oo Muia, an officer at the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) headquarters in Nairobi, who is the chief investigating officer in the NYS case since 2014, was a key partner in his Jerry Cathy Enterprises, which is one of the companies that is accused of defrauding NYS in the latest scandal.

Deal gone sour?

In the affidavit, Jeremiah Ngirita says that Mike Julius King’oo Muia is behind the woes facing the family following a fall-out.

“In the recent past, business relationship between Mike Julius Kingoo Muia, myself and our family has gone sour and Muia vowed to use his position to deal with the family,” Jeremiah is quoted by The Standard.

Sexual Harassment

Mr Ngirita further accuses officer Muia of making sexual advances against his sister, Wambere Ngirita.

“That he then told us that he would take the statement of Ms Wambere Ngirita at his residence alone as they enjoy Black Label Whisky which we declined,” Jeremiah allegedly says in his affidavit.

Jeremiah Ngirita and three other family members; his sisters Ann Wambere Ngirita, Lucy Ngirita and their mother Phylis Njeri  are accused of receiving more than Sh100 million through three companies registered to them.

The Ngirita’s are among 46 suspects, who include Youth and Gender Affairs Principal Secretary Lillian Omollo and NYS Director General Richard Ndubai, at the Center of NYS graft scandal Season 2 who were arrested on May 26 and have been in remand after they were denied bail pending investigations into the scandal.
