A magistrate judge has found the quack doctor, James Mugo Wairimu, that was charged with sedating and raping his female patients guilty and sentenced him to 29 years in jail.

According to Milimani chief magistrate Wendy Micheni Mugo was found guilty of 10 out of the total 12 counts he had been charged with.

Magistrate Wendy noted that Mugo was a danger to society, especially women and needed to be kept away.

“Instead of using the knowledge he says he acquired to improve society he went ahead by purporting to be a gynecologist and administering drugs to them,” the judge determined.

While delivering the ruling, the judge found that the prosecution proved beyond reasonable doubt that Mugo had been on the wrong side of the law.

“The sexual molestation charge cannot stand in any court of law as the prosecution failed to prove the three main ingredients of forcible intercourse beyond a reasonable doubt to warrant a conviction,” the chief magistrate indicated.

Mugo was in 2015,  charged with raping a female patient and other counts of operating unregistered clinics. He is already serving an 11-year sentence for operating an illegal medical facility that includes Milan Health International Limited in Kayole in 2018.

According to a statement by one of the witnesses in the case, Wairimu gave drugs to one of his patients, who then became unconscious and when she woke up, she found herself undressed.

In his mitigation, Mugo said he was remorseful as he started his career to serve the community and the country but he regrets it since he is behind bars.

“I regret that what I started as a noble ambition took me to where I am. I pray for a lenient sentence that will allow me to join my family and continue serving my community as a citizen,” he told the court.
