Controversial televangelist Gilbert Deya, famed for the “miracle babies” fiasco has been extradited to Kenya where He’ll be facing human trafficking charges.
Deya, arrived at the Jomo Kenya Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) 5 am on Friday aboard a KQ flight and was at the time this article was posted at Milimani law courts waiting to be charged.
The controversial pastor, who runs an evangelical church in Peckham, south-east London, came to the limelight in 2004, when it emerged that he together with the wife Mary Deya, were stealing children and trafficking them abroad, where they would in return sell them to childless congregants in his church in the name of “miracle babies”.
The Kenyan government accuses Deya of stealing five children between 1999 and 2004 even though he has denied the allegations.
His wife, Mary Deya was jailed in 2014 for stealing a baby at Kenyatta National Hospital in 2005.
Mr. Deya had opposed his extradition, saying he feared being tortured and sentenced to death but his appeal over the extradition request was rejected by a UK court.
