A company owned by former Youth Fund CEO Gor Sameleng’o and President Uhuru Kenyatta’s nephew is allegedly among those that earned millions of shillings for tendering for the National Youth Service (NYS).

Petrokenya , co-owned by Gor Sameleng’o  and Paul Gathecha Muhoho was reportedly paid Sh68 million for supplying diesel to the NYS.

The initial tender had however been awarded to a different firm, Horizon Limited owned by Ben Gethi, who then sub-contracted Petro Kenya to supply the diesel.

Gor, known for his flamboyance, told the Standard newspaper that his company only got involved with the NYS when Horison failed to pay for the fuel supplied.

“I delivered the fuel to NYS in the tender awarded to Gethi’s Horizon Ltd, but we did not know he would be unable to pay for it,” Gor is quoted by the Standard.

Gor Sameleng’o was appointed CEO of the Youth Fund by former President Mwai Kibaki in 2013 but was fired by President Uhuru Kenyatta via a gazette notice a year later.

NYS SEASON ONE SUSPECT, BEN GETHI, AWARDED ANOTHER TENDER???

Interestingly, Ben Gethi is one of suspects adversely linked to the Sh791 million NYS graft (NYS season one) in 2015 that led to the resignation of former Devolution Cabinet Secretary Anne Waiguru.

Gethi was, together with other officials from the Devolution Ministry, charged with stealing Sh791 from the NYS and was released on a Sh3 million cash bail .

The Assets Recovery Agency (ARA) found during the investigations into the NYS scandal that Sh80 million was paid to Ben Gethi in the name of Horizon Ltd, an account held at Family Bank.

Sections 40 and 41 of the Public Procurement Act stipulate that “No person, agent or employee shall be involved in any corrupt practice in any procurement proceeding” and in the event that they do, the act states that “the person shall be disqualified from entering into a contract for the procurement”.
