The country was in shock on Tuesday afternoon following reports of yet another horrific accident in the Sachangwan along Nakuru-Eldoret Highway that left 30 people dead and scored injured just when the country was still coming to terms with news of the Monday night, accident at Kamukuywa Bridge along Webuye-Kitale Road that claimed 19 lives after the 14 seater matatu they were travelling in rammed into a tractor that was transporting sugar cane.

AT LEAST 30 KILLED IN SACHAGWAN ACCIDENT

The Sachagwan accident, which involved multiple vehicles, occurred after a truck driver who was being chased by NTSA lost control of the vehicle and hit oncoming vehicles. The crash involved a Modern Coast Bus, four Nissan matatus, a truck and several other private vehicles.

22 people died on the spot, 8 while receiving treatment.

23 DIE IN BARINGO ACCIDENT INVOLVING AP VEHICLE

On Saturday afternoon, 23 people were also killed and 15 injured after people died in a  road accident at Moinonin area along Marigat-Loruk Road in Baringo County after an Administration Police lorry veered off the road and rolled several times.

Most of the victims were Turkana residents who had hitched a ride on the truck and were headed to Kapedo from Marigat town. The victims boarded the police vehicle for safety, following attacks between the Pokot and Turkana at Kapedo and Lomelo, on the border of Baringo and Turkana counties.

According to witnesses, the victims actually thought that rescuers who came to their aid shortly after the accident occurred were bandits and started pleading with them not to kill them

SEVEN MUSICIANS KILLED IN GRISLY ACCIDENT

Hours later, seven musicians from the popular Kenene international band, a well-known Kalenjin music group, died in a grisly road accident at Maraba near Total along Nakuru-Eldoret highway after the car they were traveling in collided head-on with an oncoming truck.

There has been a public outcry to convert the Salgaa/ Sachangwan, a notorious black spot, to a dual carriage that road in order to curtail the numerous accidents that have been an issue along that stretch since the 90s.
