The exercise is part of the reforms in the DCI being undertaken under the leadership of CID boss George Kinot
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) on Tuesday kicked off an audit of its officers academic certificates to establish their authenticity.
The audit is targeting about 600 officers who are degree holders and is aimed at identifying officers who have been using fake papers to get into the graduate programme. The exercise, which is being carried out by members drawn from the DCI Directorate of personnel and human resource, will also serve as a head count.
The exercise is part of the reforms in the DCI being undertaken under the leadership of CID boss George Kinoti, who was appointed early this year.
Kinoti is in charge of all the key departments at the CID, namely the Investigations Department, Flying Squad, Banking Fraud Investigations Unit (BFIU), Cyber Crime, Special Crime Prevention Unit, the Bomb Disposal Unit among others.
Anti-Crime Units Transfers
In February, more than 400 Directorate of Criminal Investigations personnel were moved in mass transfers in a move Kinoti said was aimed at bolstering operations at the affected areas.
The directive was aimed at taming criminal elements within the unit as reports indicated that some officers were allegedly involved in armed robberies and carjackings in the country.
The fire arms were marked before officers repossessed them.
