A 26-year-old young man, Gibson NYABAGA who is linked to the recent shootings in Katani area in Athi River-Machakos County that left a woman and her mother in law dead, has been gunned down. He has been forensically linked to several other armed robberies.
A 26-year-old young man, who according to the DCI is linked to the recent shootings in Katani area in Athi River-Machakos County that left a woman and her mother in law dead, has been gunned down.
According to the DCI the suspect, Gibson Nyabaga, has been forensically linked to several other armed robberies.
“One robbery with Violence Suspect was early today gunned down & two AK Rifles with 18 Live Rounds recovered by DCI SCPU Detectives at Katani area in Athi River-Machakos County, in an intelligence-led operation triggered by the October 26th, 2019 armed robbery whereby two women (aged 35 & 60) were shot dead & a man seriously injured,” DCI said in a tweet.
The 60-yr-old lady was shot dead after opening the gate for her son and his wife to drive through before the robbers turned to them killing the wife instantly. The man, a businessman in the area, sustained gunshot injuries on his left arm and ankle.
The DCI has further revealed that rifles recovered are the same ones that were robbed from two GSU Officers at Wilson Airport on 27th July 2019. One of the officers was killed in the incident. The felled suspect; Gibson NYABAGA (26yrs) has been forensically linked to several armed robberies in Nairobi Central & Eastern regions.
A GSU officer, who has been reportedly been working with the gang and is also listed among the suspects of the October 26th, 2019 robbery has also been arrested.
