Kenyan graduates have only one week left to apply online to take advantage of the 2023 Commonwealth scholarship opportunities for PhD and Masters courses available in the UK.
Simon Nabukwesi, the Education PS, has written to all Vice Chancellors of public and private in addition to all principals of university colleges notifying them that the ‘online application was opened on September 6, 2022, and will close on October 18, 2022 at 5pm.’
Eighteen PhD, Nineteen Masters Scholarships
In the letter PS Nabukwesi wrote, ‘The Commonwealth Scholarship Commission in the United Kingdom is offering eighteen PhD and nineteen masters full scholarships to Kenyan citizens tenable in 2023.’
Qualifications for the Masters Degree Scholarship
• Proof of Kenyan citizenship;
• A bachelor’s degree of at least a second-class upper division from a recognized university;
• Supporting statements from two referees;
• A proposal in the area of study clearly showing the potential impact on the country’s development;
• A quality study plan;
• Be below the age of 35.
Qualifications for the PhD Scholarship
• Proof of Kenyan Citizenship;
• A Masters degree from a recognized university;
• Supporting statements from two referees;
• One supporting statement from a supervisor in a UK institution;
• A proposal in the area of study clearly showing the potential impact on the country’s development;
• Be below the age of 45.
Note: the fields of study include food security and nutrition, manufacturing, health care and housing.
