Inspector General calls for the arrest of National and Chase bank bosses. Unethical management of the bank has been cited.
The Inspector General of police (IG) Joseph Boinnet has ordered the immediate arrest of six National Bank of Kenya and two Chase Bank managers over unethical conduct.
At the same time, he has given the managers the option of presenting themselves to the Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI).
The 8 managers are; Chase Bank’s former Chairman Zafrullah Khan and former Group Managing Director Duncan Kabui, who stepped aside on Wednesday to pave way for investigations following concerns over the credibility of the bank’s financial statements.
From NBK’s, Boinnet has his eyes on Managing Director Munir Mohammed, Executive Director Boniface Biko, Chief Credit Officer George Jaba, ICT Director Mohammed Abdalla, acting Chief Finance Officer Wycliffe Kivunira and Chris Kisire who is the Chief Finance Officer.The NBK’s managers were sent on compulsory leave pending an investigation into the bank’s financial performance.
Chase bank was put under receivership yesterday by the central bank of Kenya after experiencing liquidity difficulties.
