26 people die in Malindi bus/tanker crash

6 people have died and several injured in the wee hours of today morning after a Malindi bound bus collided with an oil tanker at Kambu, Kibwezi County on the Mombasa-Nairobi highway.

The driver of the bus is said to have been overtaking at Kalulu bridge when he collided with the trailer but according to a post shared on facebook by the bus company, the accident was caused by a tire burst that made the bus lose control.

The accident reportedly occurred around 3am and the injured were taken to Makindu level 5 hospital.

According to the area OCPD Leonard Kimaiyo, the accident involved a bus that was bound to Malindi belonging to Buscar Company and a tanker transporting vegetable oil that was headed to Nairobi from Mombasa.
