10 Al-Shabaab fighters were reportedly killed by the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) in an early morning operation today in Lamu County.

According to KDF, the terrorists were killed when the soldiers ambushed them at Taksile area in Pandanguo, Lamu West.

KDF also said they seized guns and assorted arms in the operation in Lamu County although three soldiers were injured.

The military also said there are several other militants who fled with injuries and appealed to locals to report if they came into contact with any of them.

The government has said it will increase security in Ijara constituency due to its proximity to Boni Forest where the Alshabaab have been hiding.
