An autopsy conducted on the nine-year-old boy, Enos Barasa, who was found dead in a car after the mother went to have some ‘good time’ in a lodging with a man in Bungoma County has revealed that the child succumbed to injuries inflicted by a blunt object and not out of suffocation as it had been initially presumed.

According to the police, the postmortem revealed severe injuries in the head, stomach, and chest that were probably inflicted using a blunt object.

The police have now pressed murder charges on the mother of the boy and her lover, who have since been detained.

The woman, identified as Christine Nasimiyu and her lover had checked into the lodging at a bar near Mateka market on Sunday and left the child in the vehicle for around seven hours.

According to the bar manager, Boniface Wafula, they did not know there was a child in the blue saloon car that the woman’s lover had left in the parking.

Benson Barasa, a family spokesman has also refuted the suffocation narrative, saying the child was murdered.

“It was not a case of suffocation as they want us to believe, our son was murdered,” he said.
