A university of Nairobi (UON) student is fighting for his dear life at St. Mary’s Hospital after he was brutally assaulted by bouncers at the 1824 club located in Nairobi’s Lang’ata road.

According to some sources, two students allegedly got into a scuffle at the club forcing the bouncers to whisk them away from the club for a ‘disciplinary measures’.

SONU Chairman, Babu Owino is seeking to have a peaceful demonstration with fellow “comrades” on Tuesday, 27th October outside the famous whiskey club in protest of what he terms as continuous harassment of students at the joint.

Babu has already written a letter to the Inspector General, Joseph Boinett to notify him of on the planned demonstration.

“As SONU Chairman, I owe it to my students to maximize their interests by reducing the risks they face in pursuit for leisure, entertainment and other co-curricular activities. Therefore I issue your office with this notice of our intention to peacefully demonstrate and picket from UoN main campus along Uhuru Highway and Langata road,” the letter reads in part.

BOUNCERS BRUTALITY

Cases of bouncers assaulting revelers are not isolated and it’s about time that these “macho” men, who do not have any special immunity from assault claims, understood the difference between crowd control and assault since in 2011 a second year university of Nairobi student died after he was assaulted by guards in a club in Westlands.
