This week US tabloids have been rife with news that the Obama’s marriage is allegedly headed for the rocks. According to a story published ‘exclusively’ by The National Inquirer, the first lady, Michelle Obama has had enough of Barrack’s ‘infidelity’ which according to the paper, his secret service bodyguards had been covering up.

CAMPAIGN AIDE

The tabloid claims that prior to his presidential term Obama had allegedly been in a Washington, D.C. hotel with Vera Baker, a former campaign aide and that as soon as Obama’s term in office is over, Michelle will file for divorce.

According to the Daily Mail, a British tabloid newspaper, the new allegations of the marriage woes rocking the US’s first family are not really new as two books published in the country sometimes back alleged that the couple nearly split during their early years together.

The Daily Mail reports that in 2009, veteran Washington reporter Richard Wolffe claimed that the marriage almost collapsed nine years earlier because of Obama’s political drive and the family’s shattered finances.

A LITTLE MORE ACTION A LITTLE LESS CONVERSATION…

Michelle is said to have been irked by her husband’s political ambition which was putting a strain on the family’s finances as well as spoiling their domestic bliss.

‘There was little conversation and even less romance. She was angry at his selfishness and careerism; he thought she was cold and ungrateful,‘ wrote Wolffe.

Mrs. Obama is reported to have hated Barrack’s failed race for Congress in 2000. Political writer Edward Klein is also reported to have cited a rocky marriage among the couple in 2012. Klein claimed that Mr Obama had become so depressed about his failing marriage in 2000 that friends feared he was contemplating suicide.

WELL PAID TALE?

President Obama’s supporters are convinced that this is just another ‘well calculated scandal’ to discredit him before the next elections as there is no outright proof to back the claims even though anti-Obama operatives are convinced that the exclusive story by The National Enquirer is factual. One of the reasons behind the story’s believability is that the tabloid was right when it exposed the affair between North Carolina Senator and vice-president nominee John Edwards.

A PHOTOGRAPH AT MANDELA’S MEMORIAL

A ‘selfie’ taken of a jovial President Obama on a cell phone, and also featuring Denmark’s Prime Minister Helle Thorning-Schmidt and Britain’s David Cameron, during the late Mandela’s memorial is alleged to have also fuelled the tensions between Michelle and Obama. A stern-looking Michelle Obama could be seen in the photo staring straight ahead.

In more pictures that went viral on the internet Obama appeared to be having a hearty conversation with the Danish Prime Minister as Michelle looked all lost in the proceedings of the memorial service. At some point the pictures showed Michelle seated between Obama and Helle Thorning-Schmidt and Kenyan women joked that “every woman ought to mark her territory when the situation begs.”

Well, unlike with the France President Francois Hollande whose affair with actress Julie Gayet was exposed, there is no tangible evidence that has been brought forth so far to proof that indeed Kenya’s son, Barrack Obama, is having an affair with Vera Baker or any other woman for that matter. It sells newspapers though.
