36 dead in Turkey Airport terror attack. Three attackers are reported to have opened fire inside Ataturk International airport.
A terror attack occurred at Istanbul, Ataturk international airport in Turkey last night, leaving 36 dead and hundreds injured.
According to officials, three attackers opened fire inside and outside the terminal before blowing themselves up after the police fired at them. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said the attack should serve as a turning point in the global fight against militant groups. “The bombs that exploded in Istanbul today could have gone off at any airport in any city around the world,” he said.
Istanbul airport is one of Europe’s “big five,” along with Heathrow, Paris CDG, Frankfurt and Amsterdam with Turkish Airlines already flying to more destinations worldwide than any other carrier. The attack comes just three months after terrorists attacked Brussels airport in Belgium.
