2019 Census Results

Kenya’s population is at 47.6 million, according to the results of the 2019 census released by the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics ( KNBS) on Monday.

According to KNBS, Kenya’s population expanded by 9 million between 2009 and 2019.

The 2019 census results also show that the country has more females (24 million) than males (23.6 million) while the intersex population stands at 1,524.

Most Populous Counties – Census 2019

Nairobi, Kiambu, Nakuru, Kakamega, Bungoma and Kilifi are the 6 most populous counties in Kenya according to the 2019 Census results.

The 2019 census is the first Kenya Population census to be released after the promulgation of 2010 constitution.

The census was carried out countywide in August.

President Uhuru Kenyatta has thanked KNBS for conducting a successful Census.

The president also noted that it was the first Census to be fully funded by his administration.

“I am happy to note that this is the first Census which was fully funded by my administration,” Uhuru said.
