Wanyama, who plays for the English premier league club, Tottenham Hotspurs, is reportedly nursing a nagging knee injury.
Harambee Stars head coach Sebastien Migne has confirmed that captain Victor Wanyama, his elder brother MacDonald Mariga and sensational winger Paul Were will not be part of his squad for Saturday’s African Cup of Nations Qualifier against Ghana in Nairobi.
“We know Victor has been injured and it will not be possible to have him. Today is Wednesday, three days to the match, and if we were to have him, he would be here,” said the head coach as he announced the 24-man squad.
Harambee Stars lost their opening Group F match against to Sierra Leone (2-1 ) while Ghana thrashed Ethiopia 5-0 in their opening match.
