Deputy President William Ruto took to social media to refute allegations that he has neglected his parental responsibility to an 11-year-old girl he sired in 2006 with a lady he then had an affair with.
Details surrounding the child, Abby Cherop, appeared in the public domain yesterday evening after court papers filed by the child’s enraged mother Prisca Chemutai Bett, went viral.
Prisca has moved to court through lawyer Gitobu Imanyara, to demand child support from the DP, on grounds that he has “failed, refused and or neglected to provide the minor with adequate basic necessities such as good health, food, school fees, decent clothing, shelter, and medication”.
Ruto, while acknowledging that the child is indeed his, maintained that he has always provided for the child adding that the fathers of the three other children the woman has should take their responsibility.
“The other father/s should be men enough and look after their kids. Trying blackmail for me to cater for other men’s children won’t work,” Ruto tweeted.
