Yemi with Diamond

On Friday afternoon my colleague and I set off to film studios, the location for the Coke Studio Africa recording. East Africa’s king of music, Diamond, from Tanzania and songbird Yemy Alade from Nigeria were going to be recording. Being fans of both artists, we were super excited. Better still, we were honouring an invitation by the Coke Studio Africa project manager David Sanders and this only meant one thing, we had VIP Access.

The recording was simply epic and the chemistry between Yemi and Diamond was just superb not forgetting the energy that the two had. The Coke Studio’s set is also very serene and spectacular and having been in numerous sets, I found the crew for this production very organised and professional which was quite commendable.

Coke Studio Africa is a music television series produced by the Coca-Cola Company featuring live studio-recorded music performances by various artists. The one of a kind music show brings together artists from different genres, eras and regions to create a modern and authentic sound through musical fusion. The purpose of Coke Studio is to reinvent the way music can capture the spirit of a nation, opening hearts and minds, and of course, happiness.

Season II of Coke Studio Africa premiered on NTV at 8PM on Saturday and the production teams promises that each episode will showcase unexpected fusions by various artists as well as a behind the scenes look into their interactions and experiences on set.

OJ Oballa, the Digital Content Creator for Coke Studios would later reveal that this week, on Tuesday to be precise a mega recording will be going down featuring hip hop recording artist, musician, actor Wycleaf, Rabbit, Iyanya among other great artists from across Africa.
