Mariga Back to Harambee Stars

Veteran Kenya’s Midfielder Macdonald Mariga, who plays for Spanish club Real Oviedo, has been recalled to the National team Harambee Stars.

Newly appointed Harambee Stars coach Stanley Okumbi re-called Mariga and utility player Ismail Gonzalez to the team ahead of two friendly matches with Comoros and Central African Republic.

Mariga, who is Victor Wanyama’s brother, last played for Harambee Stars in 2015 under Coach Bob Williamson for an African Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against Zambia while Gonzalez last appearance in the national team was in 2016 when he played during a friendly match against Sudan in Nairobi.

Kenya is scheduled to play Comoros and the Central African Republic on March 22 and 27 respectively in Marakech. The team will report to camp, in Morocco on March 19, 2018.

Other players who have been recalled include Winger Paul as well as Belgium based Johannah Omollo.

MARIGA WINS PREMIER LEAGURE GOAL OF THE MONTH

Spurs midfielder Victor Wanyama’s stunning strike against Liverpool has been named premier league goal of the month.

“That was one of my best goals I’ve ever scored,” he said. “I just reacted before the Liverpool players.

Wanyama’s goal earned spurs a 2-2 draw with Liverpool. It was one of the eight nominated strikes for the award, along with those of Danilo, Mario Lemina, Jose Izquierdo (twice), Mohamed Salah, Sergio Aguero and Adam Smith.
