President Uhuru Kenyatta has joined the athletes fraternity in mourning Agnes Tirop, who was found dead at her house on Wednesday.

Athlete Agnes Tirop Killed
25-year-old Kenyan Athlete, Agnes Tirop, who broke the women-only 10,000m road record last month was on Wednesday found dead with a stub wound in her neck at her home in Iten, Elgeyo Marakwet County.
The police are treating Tirop’s husband as the primary suspect.
According to the police, they found Tirop’s body laying on the bed and there was a pool of blood on the floor.
“Her husband is still at large, and preliminary investigations tell us her husband is a suspect because he cannot be found. Police are trying to find her husband so he can explain what happened to Tirop.” Said Tom Makori, the head of police for the area.
Agnes Tirop also won bronze medals at the 2017 and 2019 world championships.
She was also part of the Kenyan contingent to this year’s delayed 2020 Tokyo Olympics where she represented the country in the 5,000m race and finished 4th in the final.
