Kenyan Beauty Queen Crowned Miss England 2021

UK-born Rehema Muthamia, 25, has been crowned Miss England 2021.

Ms Muthamia, a graduate of the University of Sussex, was crowned on Friday in a glittering ceremony in Coventry and will now represent England at the 70th Miss World in Puerto Rico.

Ms Muthamia also won the first-ever Miss All African Colours contest, also in England, in February this year.

She now takes over from the former Miss England, Dr Bhasha Mukherjee who wore the crown for two years after last year’s contest was cancelled due to the coronavirus.

The beauty Queen reached the Miss England final under the new category of Miss All African Colours, which was introduced to increase the representation of minority ethnic women in the competition.

She revealed in her acceptance speech that she was a victim of an abusive relationship, saying she will use her platform to raise awareness of domestic abuse.

Sharon Obara was also over the weekend crowned Miss World Kenya 2021 at a colourful event in Nairobi’s Trademark Hotel.

I am humbled to have been the one bestowed with the honour to represent Kenya,” she said.

Sharon beat 15 other contestants to take over the crown from Ms Maria Wavinya, who has crowned Miss World Kenya in 2019 and finished 12th at the Miss World finals the same year in the United Kingdom.

She took home the crown and Sh250,000 prize money for winning Miss World Kenya 2021 title.

Ms Obara will now represent the country at the Miss World finals in December in Puerto Rico where she will battle for the global title with other 141 contestants, including England’s homegirl, Rehema Muthamia, to stand a chance to walk away with Sh10 million.
