RIP Benjamin Ayimba
Kenya’s long-serving rugby coach, Benjamin Ayimba, has succumbed to cerebral Malaria earlier today at the Kenyatta National Hospital, where he had been receiving treatment for some time.
Ayimba was admitted for the first time in January with cerebral malaria but was discharged only to fall sick again and was readmitted in mid-March.
“Benjamin succumbed to the multiple complications he was being treated for over the past couple of months,” said Family spokesman Oscar Osir.
Ayimba has been an outstanding player and coach at Safari Sevens. Prior to taking up coaching, he had an illustrious career as a Rugby 15s and 7s international.
