Kenya 0 Mali 1 – How Long Will The Suffering Go On?

A 0-1 defeat for the Harambee Stars against Mali at the Nyayo Stadium yesterday was not as humiliating as the 5-0 thrashing Mali gave Kenya’s national football team last Thursday but still it hurt and it left any hope of reaching the World Cup next year all but over.

With two games left to play, Mali lead Group E of the FIFA World Cup Qualifying Africa Groups on 10 points, Uganda have 5 points and Kenya just two points, just one place and one point above Rwanda.

Kenya will also not be at the African Cup of Nations tournament in Cameroon early next year having failed to qualify.

How Long Oh Lord!

For how long will we remain disappointed?

This is a question most Kenyan local football fans are asking themselves. Year-in-year-out the national team is backed hugely by the fans only to keep on breaking their hearts.

Kenya’s long-suffering football fans will continue singing the ‘get your act together’ song until we see our stars shining.

Until Kenya’s national football team (and their management) get their act together and even look like they might qualify for the Africa Cup of Nations or the World Cup, then the nation’s football fans will continue to turn their attention to the action on the pitch on other continents and the game in the home country will continue to wither on the vine.
