Four boys, who are part of the 13 football club members in Thailand, who have been trapped in Tham Luang caves in Chiang Rai province for two weeks now have been extracted safely.

The risky rescue operation, which involved 13 foreign divers and five Thai Navy Seals, stretched along the flooded cave bore fruit on Sunday night.

The boys, who were clad in full-face scuba masks, braved the harrowing 3.2km journey through the narrow passageways.

All four boys safely reached a hospital in Chiang Rai, the nearest major city.

Thai Officials said the teams are working round the clock to extract the remaining 8 boys and their 23-year-old coach. The rescue plan will see the boys removed in groups of four.

The coordinator of the rescue efforts said divers needed between 10 and 20 hours to rest before they can embark on another operation.

The death of a former Thai Navy Seal last week revealed just how risky the rescue mission was.

The 13 divers are part of a team of 90 divers involved in the entire rescue operation since the boys were discovered alive in the cave nine days after they disappeared by two British divers.
