Commonwealth Games 2014: Kenya takes 1st, 2nd, 3rd in Women’s 10,000m

It was Kenya for position one, two and three in the women’s 10,000m final at the on going Commonwealth games in Glasgow, after Joyce Chepkirui, Florence Kiplagat and Emily Chebet won the  gold, silver and bronze medals respectively.

Faith Chepngetich Kibiegon also added a gold medal for Kenya after prevailing in the women’s 1,500 metres in a time of 4:08.94 ahead of England’s Laura Weightman and Canadian Kate Van Buskirk. The win brings the medals that Kenya has won so far to 9.

KENYA LEADS MEDALS COUNT AT IAAF WORLD JUNIORS

Kenya has also put up a spirited fight in the IAAF Junior World Track & Field Championships at Hayward Field, where the country took the lead in the medal count with eight ahead of USA which has seven. Kenya has two golds, two silvers and four bronzes.
