Nigeria Artists Dominate 

Nigeria’s Burna Boy is the most streamed African Artist on Spotify, according to a recent report released by the Swedish audio streaming and media service company to commemorate Africa Day 2021.

Four of the top 5 African Artists that are most streamed on Spotify are Nigerians.

Master KG’s Jerusalema, which became a global hit during the 2020 Covid-19 quarantine season owing to the #JerusalemaChallenge was among the top 5 most streamed tracks by African artists globally. Burna Boy’s Loved By You, featuring Justin Bieber and ‘Copines’ – by Aya Nakamura also ranked top on the list.

In Kenya, the Popular Kenyan music group Sauti Sol is top on the list of the most streamed artists on Spotify in Kenya.

Spotify launched in Kenya in February 2021 giving users access to more than 70 million songs, 2.2 million podcast titles, and over four billion playlists.

Residents of Nairobi, Mombasa, Nakuru, Kisumu, and Eldoret account for the most Spotify streams in Kenya.
