Nairobi water treatment plant to close down temporarily, expect shortages as maintenance goes on at Ng’ethu water treatment plant.
Most residents within Nairobi county will have to contend with dry taps for the better part of the week, following a scheduled closure of the Ng’ethu Water Treatment Plant for maintenance.
The Nairobi City Water and Sewerage Company announced that the scheduled shutdown will be done on 1 July 2015 from 6am to Thursday, 2 July 2015 at 6pm in an effort meant to pave way for maintenance works in order to enhance water production in the capital.
The following areas will be affected by the shutdown; the entire city centre, University of Nairobi main campus, Coca-Cola factory, Jomo Kenyatta International Airport and EPZ in Athi River, areas along Mombasa Road among them South B, South C estates and its environs.
The United Nations in Gigiri, Muthaiga, University of Nairobi School of Law and the City Park area will also be affected.
The water company has urged residents to stock enough water to sustain them during the two days.
“Whilst every effort will be made to restore the supply of water, we request all customers in the affected areas to use their storage water sparingly during the period of the interruption. Any inconvenience is highly regretted.”
