Devolution Cabinet Secretary Anne Waiguru has maintained that the two day Global Entrepreneurship Summit, hosted by Kenya over the weekend has put the country back on the global map as a favourite investment destination in Africa.

“The biggest benefit for us as a country is that Kenya has been on the global map in the past two days. The youth and women agenda has also been highlighted,” Waiguru said.

Waiguru, who officially closed the summit yesterday, further added that Africa was on the rise and Kenya is on the move.

“Africa is rising and Kenya is rising with it. The story of poverty, war and famine is not the only story of Africa,” said Waiguru.

This was the first time the GES summit, an initiative of the US president Barrack Obama, was being held in sub-Saharan Africa and it was definitely a plus for Kenya for playing host.

The conference brought together more than 1,000 delegates, 200 investors from the United States and 20 members of the US Congress.

While addressing the nation at the Kasarani stadium in Nairobi, Obama said investors had surpassed the Sh100 billion ($1billion) target he had set for the year.
