Julius Yego wins Kenya’s 5th gold medal at 2015 IAAF competition Beijing. Other winners have been Rudisha and Bett.
Julius Yego, popularly known as the “You-Tube” athlete, has given Kenya her 5th gold medal after emerging tops in the javelin throw at the IAAF World Championships in Beijing.
Yego, has made history by making the longest throw in 14yrs, which is the 3rd longest in the history of javelin.
5years ago, the self-taught athlete, who’s the first Kenyan to win a medal in javelin, came 7th at the Commonwealth Games with 69.60. Today he threw 92.72.
Yego’s ground breaking win comes hot on the heels of yesterday’s historic triumph by Nicholas Bett, who made Kenya proud by winning the first ever gold medal in the men’s’ 400m hurdle, before David Rudisha reclaimed the 800m gold medal.
