Ruto And Waiguru Most Corrupt Leaders – IPSOS Poll

Kenyans believe deputy president William Ruto and Kirinyaga governor Anne Waiguru are the most corrupt leaders, according to the latest poll by research firm Ipsos Synovate.

“73pc of Kenyans don’t think corrupt individuals will be convicted,” the poll indicates.

The IPSOS poll further revealed that Kenyans feel that the country is going in the wrong direction due to the cost of living, leadership and corruption.

Kenya power MD Ken Tarus, who has a pending corruption case in court was also sighted among the list of shame. Tarus is among 17 senior Kenya Power Managers facing corruption charges linked to the procurement of faulty transformers, a deal that reportedly cost taxpayers a total of Ksh.310,129,743.

WAIGURU TO SUE IPSOS FOR CORRUPTION POLL

Anne Waiguru has condemned Ipsos for the poll and has threatened to sue the firm for defamation.

“I will this say to IPSOS: Shame on you. Shame on you for pushing an agenda that you know very well is political. I have never been taken to court because of any matter regarding corruption. So you cannot come and say that I am the most corrupt,” said Waiguru.

It was during her tenure as Devolution Cabinet Secretary that sh 791 million was looted at the NYS, an incident that has tainted her image.

The survey was conducted between July 25 to August 2 with a sample size of 2016. According to IPSOS, participants were aged 18 years and above and were drawn from both urban and rural areas.
