Sonko Moves Office To Machakos Home Says His Life In Danger

Embattled Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has shifted operations from city hall to his home in Mua Hills, Machakos County, saying his life is in danger.

On Monday Sonko hosted the county’s executive members at his residence in Mua for a cabinet meeting.

KIBICHO (ALLEGEDLY) : “HE WILL NOT LAST…”

According to Sonko, Interior Permanent Secretary Karanja Kibicho has issued threats against his life.

“He said, this governor one day I will use the machinery of the intelligence and the police and he will not last. To finish him he can’t take a day,” Sonko quotes Kibicho.

The governor says following the threats he called the Nairobi CID boss Nicholas Kawende and told him of the threats but the police force went all personal on him and even withdrew his security detail.

Sonko is one of the governors whose body guards have been scaled down to five in the recent move by the interior ministry to reduce police officers deployed in VIP protection.

The governor has however said all his security detail even the day and night guards attached to his Nyari residence have been withdrawn.

Sonko has for the better part of being in office cited frustrations from cartels and key government officials in the Jubilee administration.

Last week in what was perceived as a protest move towards the government, Sonko nominated controversial politician Miguna Miguna as his deputy, a decision that was not taken well in the jubilee circles with Nairobi Senator Johnson Sakaja publicly declaring that Miguna can never be the deputy governor of Nairobi county.

KRA SLAPS SONKO’S WIFE WITH SH 36 MILLION TAX ARREARS

In an interview with KTN news, Sonko also revealed that his wife Primrose Mbuvi has been slapped with a SH36 million fine in “tax arrears” by The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA).

“My wife was even slapped with a letter by KRA demanding for some Sh36 million for an alleged business she was running in the Buruburu. There is even a charge sheet for my wife and sister to be charged in a Kibera court,” Sonko said.
