“Systematic process to constrain independent voices within the company”
Eight Independent senior columnists have rendered their resignation from Nation Media Group (NMG) over alleged intimidation and curtailed media freedom.
According to a statement by the columnists, they have previously written to the board of directors at NMG to express their concerns on what they term as “systematic process to constrain independent voices within the company” in vain.

The columnists go ahead to cite numerous personalities who have exited NMG under controversial circumstances including the recent release of Linus Kaikai from its service and also the decision to discontinue economist David Ndii’s column over his affiliations with the opposition.
Other cases pointed out include the dismissal of Dennis Galava as managing editor for special projects and investigations over an editorial critical of the presidency and the termination of Gado’s contract owing to the “discomfort his contributions were causing the executive”.
“We refuse to continue to clothe the loss of independent and media freedom at NMG with respectability,” the eight columnists say in the statement.
“It is with this regret that we hereby collectively resign as independent columnists from the NMG,”
The eight columnists include;George Kegero,Maina Kiai, Gabrielle Lynch and Rasna Warah.
