Queen Elizabeth II becomes Britain’s longest reigning monarch. She has reigned for over 63 years now, starting her rule when she was in Kenya.
It has been approximately 63 years since Princess Elizabeth, on a trip to Treetops Hotel in Nyeri became queen after her father’s death, King George VI. Kenya was one of the British colonies when she became queen and is during her reign that the country gained independence in 1963.
Queen Elizabeth II will have reigned for exactly 63 years and 7 months today.
