Seven Students Stabbed in Jamhuri High School

Seven students are nursing stab wounds after clashes broke out in Jamhuri High school Nairobi on Tuesday night and spilled to the wee hours of Wednesday morning.

Even though there are conflicting reports as to what exactly transpired, some sources allege that the unrest was triggered by claims of religious discrimination between Muslim students and their Christian counterparts.

Some students have pointed out that their prefects were also discriminating and bullying them because of their religion and for being day scholars. They also alleged that they’ve been segregated based on religion when using amenities such as toilets and the library.

About 35 students both day scholars and boarders are reported to have been injured during the chaos. Some of the injured were treated and discharged while others are in hospital nursing stab wounds.

The school Principal Fred Awuor is among those injured.
